The Joyful Mysteries Rosary is a cherished prayer in the Catholic tradition, focusing on joyful events in the lives of Jesus and Mary. It invites reflection and meditation.
The Joyful Mysteries are a set of five meditations that celebrate key moments in the lives of Jesus and Mary. These mysteries include the Annunciation, the Visitation, the Nativity, the Presentation, and the Finding in the Temple. Each mystery encourages believers to reflect on the joy and hope found in these events. Traditionally, the Joyful Mysteries are prayed on Mondays and Saturdays, providing a spiritual opportunity to connect with the joyful aspects of faith. This practice not only deepens one’s relationship with God but also fosters a sense of community among those who pray together.
When to pray
The Joyful Mysteries can be prayed during personal prayer time, at Mass, or during special occasions such as Advent and Christmas.
Full prayer text
Begin with the Sign of the Cross. Say the Apostles’ Creed. On the first bead, say the Our Father. Then, for each of the ten Hail Marys, meditate on the first Joyful Mystery. Conclude each decade with a Glory Be and optionally the O my Jesus prayer. Repeat for each of the five Joyful Mysteries.

Joyful Mysteries Rosary
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, I the creator of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell; on the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father; from there he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.
