Isaiah 9:6 — «For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.» This single verse centers the Christmas message in the person of the coming Messiah, whose authority, wisdom, and peace reshape history and our lives. Isaiah 11:1-2 — «And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots: And the Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him.» The coming Messiah bears the fullness of God’s Spirit, bringing wisdom, understanding, and counsel. Reflection: Ask for the Spirit’s rest in your life this season so you may bear fruit that honors God.
Isaiah 42:6 — «I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles.» The Father’s purpose for the Messiah includes the nations—light to the world and hope for all peoples. Reflection: Pray for openings to share the light of Christ with those who have yet to hear the good news.
Malachi 4:2 — «But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings.» Christmas signals the dawning of healing and restoration through Jesus, the Sun of righteousness. Reflection: In what areas of life do you need healing, and how can you lean into the healing presence of Christ?
Zechariah 9:9 — «Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass.» The arrival of the King comes with humility and mercy. Reflection: Worship God as the Humble King who offers salvation to all who trust him.
Jeremiah 23:5-6 — «Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth. In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely.» A promised king brings security and salvation for God’s people. Reflection: Rest your heart in the steadfast promises of a faithful Messiah.
